About the Design Process
All phases of the building process are in house at SoCal Construction which gives more
autonomy over labor and the design process. An initial site visit to the construction site is
required to get correct measurements and to design the ADU to proper scale. In the design
phase, SoCal obtains requirements and a wishlist from the client – such as how many
bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen details/size, and if the building will be one or two stories.
After a design is agreed upon, SoCal draws up plans and submit them to the city or county to
obtain all the necessary permits to start the building process. Once the permits are received, they begin the building process which usually entails demolition, grading, digging foundation, hauling away trash, framing, mechanical (plumbing and electrical), stucco, drywall, paint, and finishes for exterior and interior design and construction.
